Established in 2015, TADS (The Auto Driving School) started off as Chelle’s Auto, a small automatic driving school. With enrolling many clients from different walks of life, TADS has been able to help those where English isn’t there first language, providing flexibility for those with children and work, and teaching with a calm and patient approach. Working with this approach has allowed clients to build their confidence, pass their driving test and become safer drivers.
With keeping up to date with industry changes, Chelle, the founder, has developed her skills through completing annual Driver CPD, but also achieving Coaching and Teaching qualifications, delivering Police Referred Courses and developing and delivering roady safety courses to councils.
Her work has filtered through working with sports charities, encouraging young drivers to stay safe on the roads, in line with the THINK! Campaign - Working with large driving corporations delivering on-road safety courses, to now building on that to develop and coach parents through the Parent Driver course to eradicate the rise in accidents and near misses parents tend to find themselves in.
Driving is a skill which requires more than operating a vehicle. With not taking our mental, emotional and sometimes physical health into consideration, we put ourselves in situations which become dangerous for us all.
As a driver who has witnessed poor driving, accidents and has been in situations of being on the road whilst digesting information, it is crucial that we not only raise awareness of these issues, but educate our drivers too.
We don’t realise the distractions that happen in our minds, inside and outside of the car, which leads to more crashes and incidents which can be prevented.
With our drivers being safer, this has a positive knock on effect in protecting our roads, pedestrians and environment.
If we can create interventions which address these issues, then we can prevent future accidents from arising.
‘Creating aware, safer drivers through education and coaching with positive tuition’
The most common way individuals learn about the roads is through practical tuition, learning to drive. However, although this way of learning teaches you how to manoeuvre a vehicle, driver education can often be lost. Delivering Police Referred Courses and working with drivers, it is clear that many drivers tend to forget, or not look at the Highway Code once they have passed their test. However, because of this, the statistics are showing that 93% of accidents are down to driver or rider error - which means something can be done about this, WE CAN bring this figure down.
Unfortunately, many drivers are updated on the Highway Code through campaigns, news, social media or if they have been sent on an awareness course. Although some of these interventions are helping, we can do more.
At TADS we aim to reach as many road users as possible to educate and raise awareness through coaching and positive tuition provided on our driver courses. We work with those who have yet to get on the road, thus creating a high level of awareness before they start driving. But we also work with experienced drivers who may be struggling with confidence and stress, as we know that these factors contribute highly to how you respond on the road.
In line with Vision Zero, TADS believes that we can resolve issues before they become a problem, thus resulting in safer drivers, safer roads and an elimination of deaths and injuries on our roads.
